Membership requirements

You open a membership by completing an application (below) and depositing $25 into a share savings account. After that you are eligible to apply for any of the services of Mennonite Financial. The $25 is yours, but it must stay in Mennonite Financial as long as you are a member.

How to make the switch

To become a member, you can do a Simple Switch from your current financial institution to us. Here's how to do it:

  • Open your accounts (checking and savings) at Mennonite Financial by visiting any of our branch offices or by calling us at (800) 451-5719.
  • Download our Simple Switch Kit, which includes a checklist, Direct Deposit Request, Automatic Payment Request, and Account Transfer Request forms. (.pdf)
  • Complete a Direct Deposit Request and Automatic Payment Request for each deposit or payment you wish to transfer. Be sure you remember to switch all direct deposits and automatic payments.
  • Complete the Account Transfer Request form and give it to your current financial institution. This will close your old account(s) and transfer your funds to Mennonite Financial. Be sure all your checks and automatic payments have cleared beforehand.
Please note: Companies, financial institutions, and other organizations may require additional forms to change your deposit, payment, and account information.

Membership application

Download and complete a membership application, indicating what services you would like to have at this time in addition to the basic share savings account. Complete, sign, and bring to one of our offices. Or mail it—along with $25—to Mennonite Financial, PO Box 10455, Lancaster, PA 17605.

Once-a-member, always-a-member

Once you join Mennonite Financial, you can be a member for life, no matter the church in which you decide to worship or where in the world you decide to live.

New member identification

The USA Patriot Act of 2001 requires Mennonite Financial to obtain basic information from you and verify that information when you open a new account.

This means Mennonite Financial staff will ask you for some basic information, such as your name, address, date of birth, and other information designed to help identify you. Mennonite Financial staff may also ask to see documents identifying you, such as a driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued document. Mennonite Financial appreciates your patience and understanding as we do our part in complying with the account identification procedures required by the federal USA Patriot Act of 2001.
